Adventure has always been about the journey. But in the Himalaya, it can be something more — a way to give back to the communities that make these landscapes so extraordinary.
To mark 25 years of the Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF), World Expeditions Travel Group is inviting travellers to step beyond the typical trekking experience with two purpose-driven journeys that combine exploration with impact.
Trekking with meaning
At the heart of these new departures is Huma Charity Challenge, a specialist arm of World Expeditions that connects travellers with causes on the ground.
These aren’t just bucket-list adventures. They are immersive journeys that offer a deeper understanding of the Himalaya — not only its landscapes, but its people, culture and the challenges faced by remote communities.
Travellers will have the rare opportunity to witness AHF-supported projects firsthand, spanning education, healthcare, conservation and community development across Nepal, India and Bhutan.
Two extraordinary journeys
The first is the Manaslu Circuit, a 16-day trek through one of Nepal’s most remote and less-travelled regions. Departing 26 March 2027, the journey will be led by Paralympian and AHF Ambassador Heath Francis OAM, bringing a powerful perspective on resilience and human potential.
The second is a more expansive 19-day Himalayan journey with mountaineer and AHF founding director Peter Hillary. Departing 25 September 2027, this experience spans Ladakh, Everest, Darjeeling and Bhutan — blending high-altitude landscapes with cultural encounters and visits to projects supported by the Foundation.
Both journeys require a fundraising commitment, reinforcing their core purpose: to create lasting, positive impact in the regions travellers pass through.

World Expeditions has been pioneering trekking in Nepal since 1975, and the Himalaya remains central to its story.
These anniversary departures reflect a growing shift in travel — one where experiences are not only measured by where you go, but by what you contribute along the way.
