Wilpena Pound Resort Opens for Campers and Caravanners

Located in the heart of the spectacular Flinders Ranges, the Wilpena Pound Resort has reopened its campground in line with the easing of travel restrictions within South Australia.

This is great news for South Australians who can #RoamAtHome by packing the camping gear and taking off on a road trip out through the Flinders Ranges. While at Wilpena Pound, you can get your adventure fix with a number of incredible natural attractions like hiking, camping with family and friends, and four-wheel driving.

Getting ready for visitors, Wilpena Pound Campground management has put in place several measures to ensure the health and safety of its guests and staff, including:

Campsite Allocation

Powered campsites will be allocated to allow a vacant site between each booked site. Guests booking powered sites can take a look at the campground map and choose a preferred site before booking online. Unpowered campsites will remain freely allocated, with the minimum four metres required between each campsite boundary.

Guest Numbers

Campsite bookings will include a maximum of four campers per site. Larger families or groups will need to book extra sites.

Bookings

Are recommended to be made online at www.wilpenapound.com.au in advance of arrival.

Communal Areas

Guests can pre-book the use of communal areas including barbecue areas on arrival to ensure the required social distancing ratio of one person per four square metres can be met. Guests need to thoroughly clean surfaces and remove rubbish after use.

Amenities Areas

Hygiene practices are essential in bathrooms, and shower blocks should be used by one ‘household unit’ (maximum four persons), or individuals working to the one person per four square metre ratio. Guests need to thoroughly clean surfaces after use and are encouraged to wear flip-flops or thongs at all times.

Guest Health Declaration

All guests are required to lodge a Health Declaration on arrival at the campground. The Health Declaration form is available for download and is ideally completed prior to arrival, to be presented on check-in.

While the hotel, restaurant and glamping at Ikara Safari Camp remain closed for now, the new IGA Xpress general store and onsite petrol station are open for guests and travellers in the region.
