South Sea Cruises Group has unveiled South Sea Cats, a new service transforming travel across Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands. Featuring two custom-built, high-speed catamarans, the new offering includes resort transfers and exciting half-day snorkelling trips from Port Denarau.
Proudly designed in New Zealand and built in Fiji, the two 14.8-metre catamarans, named Lynx and Puma, are engineered for both speed and comfort. Each vessel seats up to 36 passengers for resort transfers and 26 for snorkelling excursions, cruising at 22–26 knots. Powered by twin 500HP Mercury Sea Pro outboards, they offer one of the cleanest and most powerful engine options in commercial use today.
A game-changer for Mamanuca resort transfers
South Sea Cats’ new schedule enhances connectivity for key Mamanuca resorts. Morning transfers from the northern Mamanucas arrive back at Port Denarau in time for guests to catch afternoon flights. Evening services allow same-day transfers to the islands after landing at Nadi International Airport. Travellers can now spend more time at their chosen island resort and less time in transit or requiring an overnight stay on the mainland.
Ride & Slide snorkelling adventures
Launching 26 May 2025, South Sea Cats’ Ride & Slide snorkelling tours offer an ideal half-day reef adventure with the added fun of a giant inflatable slide.
The morning tour runs for 2.5 hours and visits the reefs off Malamala or Tivua Islands. It includes morning tea, snorkelling gear, paddleboards, and access to the inflatable slide.
The afternoon tour extends to 4.5 hours and includes a light lunch, multiple snorkel and swim stops, and sightseeing through the Mamanuca Islands. Some tours will include a stop at a sand cay, tide permitting.
