Discover Northern Thailand’s new eco-luxury tented camp

In the remote highlands of northern Thailand, where mist hugs the mountains and rice paddies stretch across valleys, a new kind of escape has arrived. Visama Explorer Nan—an eco-luxury tented camp—offers travellers a refined glamping experience surrounded by natural beauty and rich Lanna culture.

Now open for bookings ahead of its official launch on 1 December 2025, this intimate hideaway redefines sustainable travel in one of Thailand’s most serene and under-explored provinces.

Glamping meets Lanna charm

Set amid emerald rice fields and backdropped by mountains, Visama Explorer Nan features just eight high-comfort tented suites designed for maximum tranquillity and comfort. Each air-conditioned tent spans 36 square metres with an additional 12-square-metre covered veranda, blending stylish safari aesthetics with four-star amenities.

Guests can choose between Mountain View or Creek View tents, each offering king-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, private decks, rain showers, Wi-Fi, mini bars, and thoughtful touches like French press coffee and plush bathrobes—all under canvas.

Thoughtful design in a natural setting

At the heart of the camp is the Ambalama—a gathering space inspired by Sri Lankan resting houses. Here, travellers can enjoy fireside chats, open-air cinema evenings, and locally crafted cocktails from the outdoor bar.

Dining is an experience of its own at Monmanee, the camp’s creekside restaurant. With a fireplace to warm cool winter nights, the menu features Northern Thai specialities alongside familiar Western comfort dishes, paired with a curated wine and cocktail list.

A mission-driven escape

Visama Explorer Nan is the latest venture by VHG Hospitality Asia, part of Bangkok-based YAANA Ventures, a leader in sustainable and socially responsible travel. Known for their award-winning ecolodges such as Cardamom Tented Camp in Cambodia and Anurak Lodge in southern Thailand, the group brings deep eco-conscious expertise to this new destination.

More than just a luxury camp, Visama Explorer Nan champions community engagement and responsible tourism. The camp actively supports local career development and offers guests a chance to connect through tree planting, artisan workshops, and guided explorations of nearby temples, waterfalls, and mountain trails.

Getting there

Visama Explorer Nan is located in Thailand’s Nan province, a region known for its cultural richness and unspoiled landscapes. Travellers can fly from Bangkok to Nan in around 80 minutes, followed by a two-hour scenic road transfer to the camp. Daily flights are available with AirAsia and Nok Air from Don Muang International Airport.

Special opening offers

To celebrate its debut, Visama Explorer Nan is offering a limited-time “Opening Whisper Escape” rate of THB 4,740 per night (approx. AUD 200) including breakfast and dinner for two. This rate is available for bookings made before 31 December 2025 for stays from 1 December onwards.

From 1 January 2026, the “Tent & Taste” package offers a two-night stay at THB 6,970 per night, also including breakfast and dinner for two.
